the challenge
Gensler had recently completed a challenging redesign and restructuring of their website, gensler.com when they engaged with SolutionSet . To further communicate the Gensler brand to potential clients, existing clients and employees, SolutionSet was chosen as the new agency of record and asked to sustain and extend this beautiful and highly-interactive site. There have been many enhancements requested during the process, including:
- Gensler's existing Flex-based website was not loading as quickly as desired, forcing users to watch a progress bar for up to 20 seconds in some cases.
- The text styles on and positioning of page elements were not consistent and were not indicative of the design quality that Gensler's clients can expect
the solution
SolutionSet collaborated with Gensler to refine and extend the Flex-based frontend and strengthen the content management system (CMS) built on the Symfony PHP framework. SolutionSet performed an audit of the existing code and discovered the causes of the slower-than-desired loading screen and the visual design inconsistencies. Memcache was used to speed performance.
