Challenge
Create a student/teacher curriculum site that is feature-rich and easy-to-maintain
The SFMOMA ArtThink website needed to link together lesson plans, artists, interactive exhibits, and artworks. It needed to be easy-to-navigate and search and yet easy-to-maintain by a non-technical staff.
Solution
Implement a content management system so that the site can easily grow
SolutionSet implemented the design created by Method and built a backend content management system using ASP and MSAccess. This solution was chosen due to budget restraints and so that it would run on the same platform as an earlier content management project for an in-museum kiosk. XSLT was implemented to separate the data from the design, making the information and presentation completely autonomous (which in turn allows for painless redesigns in the future). Finally, SolutionSet wrote the search functions to allow for a searchable online glossary driven by the XML data in the content management system. The result: a dynamic, easy-to-use and maintain website.
