The San Francisco Symphony is the premier symphony orchestra and performing arts organization in Northern California. Founded in 1911, the San Francisco Symphony has played a defining role in American cultural life. The eStore is part of the Symphony's overall retail and online strategy. Sales from the eStore support the operations of this leading non-profit organization.

Challenge

The San Francisco Symphony needed to act quickly to port an existing online store to a both a new software platform and a new hosting company.

The San Francisco Symphony had been selling music CDs, hats, and other gifts, online for several years. Suddenly the Symphony's eCommerce hosting service and development firm declared that they were shutting down their business and hosting. The Symphony had only two months to move to a new hosting service and port all the existing content and online infrastructure.

Solution

SolutionSet consulted with the Symphony on implementing a cost-effective platform for providing technology and management services. Once the final strategy was set, SolutionSet managed the requirements and engineering efforts to port the San Francisco Symphony-s eStore within the 2-month deadline.

Results

The results of this project were that the San Francisco Symphony was able to keep their eStore up and running without any loss of service, or days of outage. Additionally, the new XCart platform is more easily managed and extendable than the previous platform.
